Since we’re slowly becoming the same person and don't need separate bios, here's the long story short of how we both got into fashion. We both met at Parsons School of Design in New York, and although are backgrounds are in fashion design, they are slightly different. Harmony studied menswear and sustainability in fashion, and later worked at Coach doing trend research, as well as studying their vast collection of leather and becoming an expert in all things cowhide. Shilpa studied women’s evening wear, shoes design, and printmaking (at a short stint at Central St. Martins).
As wonder twins do, we combined our fashion expertise to make a shoe line that we wanted to appeal to all types of women, and that would be wearable for everyone. Basically, we love what we do and consider ourselves shoe-per heroes... our mission is to stop women from hobbling around the street in uncomfortable, unpractical shoes, so that they don't have to sacrifice comfort for style.
Our shoes are inspired by strong women and the many roles they lead. We've even named our looks after women we admire. Muses include headstrong socialite Elsie de Wolfe and Billie Holiday, who inspiringly overcame a tough childhood and became a jazz icon.
Since we are inspired by strong women, we give 5% of our profits to Restore NYC. Restore is a non-profit organization that provides long-term rehabilitation to victims of sex-trafficking in New York, which is one of the largest global markets for human trafficking. By giving these ladies an education, a place to stay for up to a year and placement with local and national companies, Restore breaks the cycle of abuse these women endure, and gives them a fresh start.
